The LumoLab Case

The player (reporter Luke Barrow) meets with one of his informants.

Cut scene

INT. DAN’S HOUSE: THE STUDY – NIGHT

Dan: No! They’re here! The LumoLab… Listen, there’s a –

He reaches for his pocket, but an invisible force hurls him against the wall. Hs face, hands and feet are gone, replaced by hissing helices of orange light that protrude from his inflated suit. The suit hovers in the air for a few seconds and falls on the floor.

End cut scene

First person gameplay.

INT. DAN’S HOUSE: THE STUDY – NIGHT

Prompt message “Look for clues before anyone gets here.”

Clickable/explorable items in the scene:

item consequence
top drawer There’s a gun in the top drawer of Dan’s desk. With the gun, the player will be able to fight the LumoLab men.
Dan’s suit The USB with the LumoLab logo is in the pocket of Dan’s jacket. The player needs this USB to unlock the next level; if he leaves the house without it he has to return to pick it up.
window The window opens onto the balcony with a fire escape to the roof, where one LumoLab man is waiting for the player.
door Two LumoLab men are waiting for the player behind the door.

The next scene depends on the objects the player collected and his escape route.

The door route:

INT. DAN’S HOUSE: THE STUDY – NIGHT

Player opens the door and faces two armed LumoLab men.

If the player doesn’t have a gun: they shoot the player or he can go back and take the window route.

If the player has a gun: he can shoot them and leave the house.

INT. LUKE’S OFFICE – NIGHT

If the player doesn’t have a USB:

Screen message: “You’ve got a new email.”

Screen message: “If you’re reading this, they’ve got me. There’s a USB with some classified files in my pocket, if you can still get it.”

The player has to return to Dan’s house and retrieve the USB.

If the player has a USB:  jump to <next level>.

The window route:

EXT. DAN’S HOUSE: THE BALCONY – NIGHT

The player is on the balcony. He climbs the fire escape to the roof, where there’s another armed LumoLab man.

If the player doesn’t have a gun: he shoots the player, or the player can go back to the study and take the door route.

If the player has a gun: the player can shoot the man and continue.

INT. LUKE’S OFFICE – NIGHT

If the player doesn’t have a USB:

Screen message: “You’ve got a new email.”

Screen message: “If you’re reading this, they’ve got me. There’s a USB with some classified files in my pocket, if you can still get it.”

The player has to return to Dan’s house and retrieve the USB.

If the player has a USB:  jump to <next level>.
